Mary Chavelita Dunne Bright, who took on the pen
name George Egerton, was born in Australia in
1859. During her childhood she lived in New
Zealand, Chile, Wales, Ireland, and Germany. After
the death of her mother in 1875, she helped raise
her younger siblings, living in Dublin, London, and
New York.
